9 AM Compliance Wage & Labor Laws

Mr. Preis numerous articles have appeared in the Loyola Law Review, City Business, the Corporate Counselor, Employee Relations Law Journal and the Louisiana Bard Association. He is a contributing editor for the American Bar Association’s Developing Labor Law textbook. Fred Preis is a senior partner at Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson Law Firm and he practices labor and employment law-management nationwide.
Mr. Philip Giorlando graduated from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center and has advised numerous clients on labor and employment issues including FMLA & ADA compliance, Federal Wage & Hour Guidelines, and issues concerning discrimination in business succession planning and has counseled many different industries including banking, hospitality, hospital/healthcare, charter schools and city and Louisiana state governmental departments. He is the Chairman of the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Subcommittee.
11 AM How to Lessen Contractor Liability

Goal: Review contractual provisions to strengthen the contractor’s position when dealing with legal issues.
Description: The class will discuss various clauses to assist contractors in their contractual relations with their clients. Students will become familiar with legal issues that impact them regarding their written agreements.
Ms. Kyle’s principal areas of practice include construction litigation, business dispute/contract litigation, debt collection and administrative licensing matters. Sharon has litigated construction and debt collection matters in both state and federal courts throughout Louisiana. Sharon has dedicated her practice to Louisiana’s construction industry. Sharon is a licensed contractor and a property developer as well as a lawyer and remains actively involved in the construction business she co-founded with her husband and their real estate development projects.
Sharon Kyle’s ongoing, active involvement in the construction industry gives her a unique perspective and understanding of the issues facing her clients in litigation and daily business operations. Sharon’s litigation experience involves every aspect of the construction process, from drafting initial contracts to litigation through the trial and appellate process including the Louisiana Supreme Court. Sharon utilizes her experience as a licensed contractor and attorney to advise her clients and support their operations from the ground up.

1 PM Insurance Requirements & Quality Control

Goals: Case studies will be shared and help students become familiar with types of insurances which the builder and remodeler should carry and why they are important.
Description: The class will teach about various types of liability issues and will discuss the importance of proper and continuing jobsite safety training and the potential problems that may need to be addressed.
Mr. LeCorgne holds the NAHB Designations Certified Graduate Associate, Certified Green Professional. He has ben an approved instructor for Builder Continuing Education classes for the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors for 14 years and is a certified instructor for NAHB for several designed classes in the areas of Risk Management, Customer Services, Business basics, to name a few. Michael LeCorgne has been in the residential building industry for over 36 years.
3 PM Construction Loans from Top to Bottom

Goals: The class will cover all down payment options and loan programs.
Description: Students will receive an overview of working with the construction management with bankers during the building process. Students will review each type of construction loan product and discuss what is needed for various types of financing and discuss benefits to clients and builders.
Mr. Boasberg is a Senior Loan Officer at NOLA Lending Group in New Orleans where he has assisted contractors and homeowners for the past 18 years.
He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance Management from LSU in 1994.
